Well you'll all be happy to know that I've got a new client... one that will hopefully lead to a fair amount of work. I now do the print marketing for a nightclub called Ladylux. The first job was for "Flux - Fridays at Lux" and will be changed monthly. the client was after cool and edgy, and somehow my usual, personal design style equated to this... Now I'm working on "Any Given Sunday", convincing people to go clubbing on Sundays. All will be put in my portfolio eventually, but I thought you might like a taster.
My cuz has managed to scam a few days off work, and will be coming to Tokyo with me... YAY! And I've also managed to get a client over there for some corporate branding - she's American and runs a weekend cooking class in English. Basically you learn how to make French cakes and how to speak English in the one class - I think that's quite cool.
Otherwise in life, I've been helping my aunt and cuz clean up my grandmother's house, and have managed to come home with some cool old stuff. I got a couple of the old, weighted oil lamps that were used as bed lights back in the day; a crystal bathroom jar; a cigarette holder that's in the shape of a shoe, floral patterned and made of silver; an old tin of talc from La Lete Parfumeurs, Paris that has an awesome 30s/40s design on it; some Kem playing cards with a greek design on them; and an old book of Emerson's essays, I would guess from the early 20th century (though quite damaged), the preface was written in 1841. Eventually I will get around to do some sort of book restoration class so that I can fix all my babies.
Today we're going through my aunt's shed, so we may find some more cool things! Though I have a feeling it's going to be more a case of throwing out a whole heap of decade year old paint and dodgy furniture... ah well, family is family!
Forgot to mention that I met up with my best friend from high school last week (I haven't seen her for 4 years!) She's up in Sydney from Hobart for Semi Permanent - yes, she also became a graphic designer... small world! lol
And my bestie from Melbourne is coming up this week for work, so I'll get to see her too!! Now I just have to convince the other one that she needs to come and visit me too and I'll be set for the next year! lol
